Ybor City Chicken Paintings
This is where you can find our Ybor City Street Chickens....hens and roosters who, along with their ancestors, have walked the streets of Ybor City since the late 1800's. When the hand rolled cigar factories burned to the ground in Key West, the industry learned of the railroad availability in Tampa and relocated to Ybor City. The workers followed, seeking jobs in the new location. They brought their chickens with them. These newly developed cigar factories eventually shut down when the Depression rolled in. The workers left to seek other jobs, leaving their chickens behind to fend for themselves. The descendants of these original birds now freely roam the streets of Tampa's historic Ybor City. You can find more information by following Ybor Chickens Society on Facebook and the Ybor Misfits Microsanctuary on Instagram. Thanks to Dylan Breese , founder of Ybor Chickens Society and the Ybor Misfits non-profit Micro-sanctuary for granting permission to use his photos as reference for my paintings. Included with each painting is a "chicken "bio" written by Dylan. These smaller paintings are mounted on rustic wood plank and are wired to hang or be self standing on a bookcase or shelf. The paintings also include a "chicken bio", written by Dylan. Feel free to contact me via email if you have questions.
A portion of proceeds from sales is donated to the 501(c)3 Ybor Misfits Microsanctuary for care and treatment of sick abandoned, lost and injured chickens. Please feel free to donate to sustain the birds. Thank you for your help.
This collection contains the smaller paintings. Please see medium to large paintings in the additional collection to follow.
