Old Carrollwood Peacocks Series

Look around the streets of Old Carrollwood Village in Tampa and if you're lucky, you'll see spectacular free roaming peacocks and their less flashy, although equally beautiful, female peahens.  These brilliant blue-and-green birds have lived in the area long before World War II. Brought in to help protect livestock, they do make a racket resulting in the perfect alarm system!  As subdivisions began to develop, the peacocks took on the job of alarming if anything is out of sorts in the neighborhood.  Not welcomed by all the homeowners, others totally embrace their iridescent birds!  Any day I visit, they put on a show for me which I capture.  Back in the studio the memories of their beauty propel my paintings.  Check the 'Abstract' section, as well as the 'Smaller Paintings' section of my website for more peacock inspired art!
