In July, 2021, Hank wandered into someone’s Ybor City backyard. The homeowner, who was afraid to get close enough to assess Hank’s true condition, called the Rescue for help . When the Misfits Microsanctuary showed up, they found Hank in terrible shape. This poor boy’s comb had been removed, his spurs trimmed and he had a large burn hole on his head. He was extremely thin, probably because his face and throat were too swollen to swallow most foods, and he was weak and downtrodden. Sadly, he had been severely abused by humans and then discarded. At the Sanctuary, Hank was placed on a liquid diet and treated for a variety of injuries. Before too long, he was a brand new boy, and now, several months later, he's starting to regrow feathers through his scars. Once the victim of unimaginable human torture and on death's doorstep, now on any given day, you can see him in the Sanctuary flapping his wings with joyful abandonment! Hank is a survivor and deserves the happiness he's found at the Ybor Misfits Microsanctuary.
This is a mixed media painting. The sides are painted so it's ready to hand with no frame needed. A portion of sales proceeds is donated to the 501c3 Ybor Misfits Microsanctuary.
